| SCONCES pair COPPER BRASS 1940 TAXCO CANDLES A rare pair of circa 1940 sconces by Hector Aguilar of Taxco, Mexico, the candle holder back made of copper, copper balls are part of the decoration, with brass 'piping' around the entire rim, with hook like apparatus on back of each to hang on the wall. Similar sconces are illustrated at top of page 137 of Penny Morrill's book 'Silver Masters of Taxco' -- the use of brass and copper are reversed. Dimensions 10 3/4 inches long by 5 1/4 inces wide by 3 inches deep at bottom where candle is inserted. No monogram. Marked as illustrated in photograph. |
