STAG TUREEN PHILADELPHIA STERLING SILVER
A fine circa 1865 sterling silver tureen with cover by John C. Moore? or Bernard Beiderhase? or William Bogert? (all three (3) makers used the words 'English Sterling' in an elliptical configuration on their silver, and retailed by J.E. Caldwell of Philadelphia, in the stag motif, the base, rim of cover and uper lid with an applied antherium motif, the cover rising to the sky to feature a standing and very proud stag, the handles hoops that are moveable, all on a raised pedestal base.
Weight 106 oz. Dimensions 16 inches long by 9 3/4 inches wide by 14 3/4 inches high. Liquid capacity 16 cups (108 fl. ozs.). No monogram. Marked as illustrated in photo.
