HOLLOWWARE by Charters, Cann & Dunn

Four Piece Teaset  Being offered is an exceptionally fine rococco revival ca. 1850 coin silver four piece tea set by  Charters, Cann and Dunn , active in New York, NY 1848-56.  Each piece is of octagonal form.   Each of the eight panels on each piece has superb chasing and repousse work of flowers, crests and scrolls.   Each piece has four cast and applied floral and scroll-motif feet.  Note three-dimensional, figural bird finials and very realistic massive grapevine-and-bark motif handles.  Monogrammed EJS. Measurements:  Coffee pot - 10 * inches by 10 inches; covered sugar - 9 inches by 8 * inches; creamer - 6 * inches by 6 inches;  waste bowl - 4 * inches by 6 inches.   Marked Allcock and Allen (a carriage trade, i.e. highend, retailer), CC&D hallmarks of leopard head, CC&D, arm and hammer, NY. Total weight:  105 ozs.  The weight on each piece is excellent!!!!  Excellent (near mint) condition.   Price: SOLD
