HOLLOWWARE by Joseph Heinrich
|
HEINRICHS MIXED METAL BRONZE COPPER STERLING SILVER A rare circa 1900 chafing dish by Joseph Heinrichs, of New York and Paris, the three (3) legs in 3-dimensional lobster form to compose the stand, with burner, uncerbowl, pan with ebony handle and cover with ebony finial. The interiors of the underbowl with handles and pan with handle, and under cover are sterling silver; the remaining pieces in pure bronze. Heinrichs' pieces are rarely marked, are usually copper rather than 'pure bronze' and seller has never seen this 'lobster' motif. Chafing dish parties/dinners were very popular in the early 20th Century. Dimensions: 10 1/2 inches high by 12 1/2 inches across handles. No monogram. Marked as illustrated in photo. This is a museum quality piece, especially since it is fully marked and has a sublime patina.
