ERIK MAGNUSSEN STERLING SILVER PEDESTAL BOWL 1935 25oz. Circa 1935 sterling silver centerpiece bowl by Erik Magnussen during his years in California, the handwrought bowl with masterful hand hammering, the raised pedestal base and bowl with everted rim connected with four (4) art deco multi-leafed flourishes. Weight 25 oz. Dimensions 4 7/8 inches high by 8 1/2 inches diameter of bowl by 4 inches diameter of base.. No monogram. Marked as illustrated in photo. (Magnussen was the most important designer at Gorham in the late 1920's. Please see Jewel Stern's book "Modernism in American Silver" for many examples of his work.) |
