As stated in Silver in 'America 1840-1940' in the biography section written by D. Albert Soeffing Moore played an important role in connection with the house of Tiffany & Co. Besides supplying Tiffanys with large quantities of silver, it is said that he made a special agreement with the company prior to his retirement in 1851. It is clear that Moore and his Son Edward Chandler had special privileges with the retailer. But one should remember that until this silverware manufactury was acquired by Tiffany's in 1869, there were numerous other quality manufacturers who helped to fill the silver cases at Tiffany's among them William Bogert, Henry Hebbard and John Polhamus. And of course, Moore supplied silver to other carriage trade retailers, including Ball Tompkins and Black. Price: $ 22, 485.00 |
