Circa 1935 sterling silver and amethyst bowl by William Spratling of Taxco, Mexico, featuring a pre-Columbian motif chased along the rim and set with amethysts. This piece is featured in the Centennial Edition of Spratling Silver (page 117).

Diameter 11 7/16 inches; height 1 ½ inches. Weight 24 ozs. Marked Spratling Made in Mexico surrounding WS (all within a circle); Sterling.

STERLING SILVER 3pc COFFEE SET 1940

Circa 1940 sterling silver 3 piece coffee set by William Spratling of Taxco, Mexico, the coffee pot with rosewood handle ending at top in Spratling's distinctive 'conch' motif, the lower 1/3 of the body globular, the upper 2/3 tapered, the applied spout elongated and stately, with ball finial on flip lid; the creamer and sugar bowl each with rosewood handles.

Total weight 32 oz. Coffeepot 8 1/4 inches high, width from upper spout over handle 9 1/2 inches, fluid capacity 6 cups (48 fluid ozs.). Sugar bowl width 4 3/4 inches over handles, 2 3/4 inches high. Creamer 4 inches wide over handle and spout, 2 7/8 inches high.

No monogram. Marked with Spratling's mark from the 1st design period of 1940-1946.
