TOWLE ENAMEL SILVERPLATE MUSEUM QUALITY RARE 1955

Circa 1955 silverplate tazza by Towle Silversmiths of Newburyport, Mass. During the 1950's many bowls that were createD were not authentic vitreous enamel, but a plated finish.

Workers at Towle designed this tazza with an enameled interior and an allover decorative design that was stamped on the color field and encircled with a black border at the rim for accent.

See page 273 of Jewel Stern's book "Modernism in American Silver - 20th Century Design." This is a shallow dish with a raised foot and may be seen at the traveling exhibition which is now on view at the Wolfsonian in Miami.

Dimensions 7 5/8 inches diameter by 1 1/2 inches high. No monogram. Marked as illustrated in photo.

Sterling Silver & Plastic Candlesticks.

Circa 1957 sterling silver candlesticks designed my Marion Anderson Noyes for Towle of Newburyport, MS,in an organic modern design with black plastic tips. (These sticks are in the collection of The Dallas Museum of Art and are part of the exhibition that is now at The Renwick Gallery in Washington, DC.

Total weight 23 oz. Heights 7 1/4 inches and 8 inches. Width 9 1/2 inches from black plastic tip to opposite end of candle stick. No monogram. Marked Towle Sterling, 11, Filled Reinforced.

STERLING SILVER GREEN 'ENAMEL' PUNCH BOWL 12 CUPS

A rare circa 1955 sterling silver enameled punchbowl and twelve (12) cups by Towle, of Newburyport, MA, body sterling silver and interior a stunning green 'enamel'. The interiors are not actually an 'enamel' process, but is 'enamel-like') (see page 270, Jewel Stern book 'Modernism in American Silver').

Dimensions: punchbowl 7 inches high by 12 inches diameter at top of bowl; cups 2 1/2 inches high by 2 5/8 inches diameter at top rim. No monogram. Marked as illustrated in photo (punchbowl marked '975', cups marked '976'.
