STERLING SILVER EGYPTIAN REVIVAL TEA/COFFEE SET Circa 1870 sterling silver five (5) piece coffee and tea set with tray by John Wendt of New York, in the rare Egyptian revival motif, each covered piece with 3-dimensional Pharaonic-like bust, the globular bodies and lids repousse and chased, each piece with a cartouche containing a winged griffin (the other cartouche is bare), each piece also with applied zig zag motif bands at mid level and near rim, the handles also molded to have an exotic flare, the tray engraved with a winged griffin family coat of arms and having the same applied, zig zag motif at rim. The pieces are a coffee pot, 9 3/4 inches high, holding 7 1/2 cups liquid; teapot, 8 inches high, holding 4 1/2 cups liquid; rare chocolate pot, 8 7/8 inches high, holding 4 cups liquid; sugar bowl with cover, 6 7/8 inches high; and creamer, 5 inches high. Total weight of 5 pieces and tray 184 oz. Dimensions of tray 22 inches by 15 3/4 inches. No monogram (and of course no monogram removal).
